  • I bought a new 806 diesel, and kinda glad i didn't get that front wheel assist. I didn't have a problem with traction with 18.4 x38 tires.

  • bought a new 986 in March 1978 for spring work wiyh 18.5 foot vibrashank and a 68 blade 475 disc. went from 52 horse 574 and associated equipment, as i rented much more land. Work went so well had opportunity to pick up a used 806 in excellent condition and took MORE land. long story short 986 trada ed for a 1086 3years later . Extended vibrashsnk cer repaired anything on 806ult t0 22.5 feet, bought another 22.5 footer, and the 806 would walk side by side 1086. No turbo ( and no EGT guage either ). both 1086 and 806 stayed until farm sold in the 2000s. Never repaired anything on 806 exceot basic maintenance and /. Not lights, genny, starter, brakes, clutch/TA, nothing. That was my W-6 tractor my Father said. He bought one in 1943, putting distributer pump on it around 1948. also had that until farm sale. Still have 656 with a 282. Also bullet proof. Nothing but nothing beats those old IHs.
